Plant Now, Bloom Later!

Fall is for planting bulbs, and spring is for enjoying the rewards!
There’s something magical about tucking a little bulb into the soil in October and watching it burst into color next spring!
Now is the time to plant spring-flowering bulbs and garlic. Cooler temperatures help bulbs establish roots before winter, setting the stage for beautiful blooms and delicious harvests.
What should you plant?
Your fall planting inspiration
Tulips
A springtime classic! Plant in groups for a spectacular burst of color.
Daffodils
Cheerful, reliable, and generally avoided by deer. A garden favorite!
Crocuses
Tiny but mighty! Among the first flowers to announce spring.
Hyacinths
Beautiful blooms with a fragrance that makes spring even sweeter.
Alliums
Gorgeous purple globes that add height and personality to late-spring gardens.
Grape Hyacinths
Little clusters of blue flowers that look wonderful along pathways.
Snowdrops
Delicate white bells that can bloom while snow is still on the ground.
Garlic
Don't forget the edible bulbs! Plant individual cloves now for a delicious harvest next summer.
Three Simple Planting Tips
Pick the right spot. Most bulbs love sunshine and well-drained soil.
Dig, plant, and cover. Plant most flower bulbs about 2–3 times as deep as the bulb is tall, with the pointed end up. Follow package directions for specific varieties.
Water and mulch. Water after planting if the soil needs moisture, then add a light layer of mulch for winter protection.
Bloom Gardens Tip: Plant bulbs in clusters rather than straight rows for a more natural, beautiful display. Mix early and late bloomers to keep the color coming!
The best spring gardens begin with a little fall planning. Grab your gloves, plant a few bulbs, and give yourself something wonderful to look forward to!
Happy planting!
